Sweet 18! Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe‘s oldest daughter Ava just celebrated her 18th birthday on Sept. 9 and her movie star parents made sure to shower their not-so-little girl with a ton of love on her special day. But Reese went the extra mile and instead of giving her daughter a standard gift like a car, she went with a more meaningful present — a series of 18 letters, each of which was written on her birthday over the past 18 years.

Ava took to Instagram to share a photo of the thoughtful gift, and all of the letters were neatly stacked on top of each other, tied together with a light pink ribbon. “18 letters that made me cry (hard) today, courtesy of my lovely mother,” the teen wrote in the caption.

While Ava did not specify what exactly was written in each of those letters, fans can guess that they were filled with warm words of love, judging by the Walk the Line star’s Instagram tribute to her daughter. “Happy 18th birthday to my sweet girl,” the 41-year-old wrote in the caption of a throwback photo, adding the cake emoji. “Your kindness, grace, intelligence, and humor never cease to amaze me. I love you and your HUGE [heart] and I feel so lucky that I get to be your mom.”

Not to be outdone, Reese’s ex-husband and Ava’s dad Ryan also took to Instagram to shower his daughter with love. The 43-year-old shared a series of four photos taken throughout Ava’s life and he addressed his daughter across each of the captions. “Happy birthday, punk,” the Shooter star wrote. “I love you more than any strangers need read, but [you are the] smartest, most beautiful daughter a father could ever have and even though you’re no longer a child, you’ll always be my little girl.”
