It seems Reese Witherspoon's divorce took quite the negative toll on her career.
During a new interview with '60 Minutes,' the 38-year-old actress admitted her 2005 split from Ryan Phillippe, 40, affected her ability to score box office success in subsequent film roles.
"Phew, that was a tough year that followed," she said in the Sunday, Dec. 21 sit-down. "I got divorced the next year and I spent a few years just trying to feel better."

Reese and Ryan — who wed in June 1999 and are parents to daughter Ava, 15, and son Deacon, 11 — split after rumors swirled that Ryan, 40, cheated with Australian star Abbie Cornish.
"You know, you can't really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs," said the 'Legally Blonde' star, who married talent agent Jim Toth in 2011.

"I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn't making things I was passionate about, I was just kinda working. It was really clear the audiences weren't responding to anything I was putting out there," she continued.
Reese says she's thankful her career has since took a turn for the better. The mom to Tennessee, 2, recently received rave reviews for her production of the hit movie, 'Gone Girl,' and is now garnering Oscar buzz for her new role in 'Wild.'
