So Exciting!Rachel Bilson and Kaitlin Doubleday Join ‘Nashville’ Following Connie Britton’s Exit From the Show

This is great news!

Rachel Bilson and Kaitlin Doubleday will join the musical drama Nashville following Connie Britton's unexpected exit from the show, CMT announced on Thursday, March 9.

"We welcome Rachel and Kaitlin into our incredibly talented ensemble," Marshall Herskovitz, executive producer and showrunner, said in a statement. "We fondly anticipate the second half of the season filled with surprising twists and turns that make Nashville so beloved by the fans."

You probably remember Rachel from The O.C., where she portrayed Summer Roberts from 2003 until 2007. She also played Dr. Zoe Hart in Hart of Dixie from 2011 until 2015. She took to her Instagram to confirm the exciting news. "Music city, here I come?#NashvilleCMT," she wrote on the social media platform.

Kaitlin — who played Rhonda Lyon on Empire — is also excited about coming aboard. "This will definitely be a change of pace! #NashvilleCMT," the actress captioned an Instagram photo of the show's Bluebird Cafe.

While it seems Rachael, 35, and Kaitlin, 32, will be joining the second half of the show's fifth season — the spring finale was last night! — the network has kept their characters a mystery.

Connie (aka Rayna James) previously opened about her choice to leave the popular drama after five seasons. "It was something that had been percolating over time, and there were lots of different reasons behind it. But my priority was really making sure that the timing was right. My priority has always been Nashville," she said after her exit episode in late February.
