The queen finally approves!
Kate Middleton is scheduled for her first official TV interview since her 2010 engagement, as part of a two-hour British TV documentary celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday, and Closer Weekly has learned that the queen herself approved of her granddaughter-in-law being a part of the special tribute!
“The queen thinks Kate is doing a great job as a young mum and is a wonderful wife to William,” a courtier tells Closer of the queen's choice to bring Kate into the fold.

Despite their reportedly rocky start, the courtier tells Closer that the duchess has won the queen’s regard since her 2011 marriage by balancing her royal duties and motherhood with finesse. The queen also hopes that Kate’s popularity among younger Britons can help her reach across the generation gap.

“She wants younger viewers in particular to learn more about her work over the best part of 70 years,” says the courtier. “To be blunt, the queen wants some of Kate’s stardust to rub off on her!”
“When Kate speaks, people listen,” the courtier tells Closer. “The queen knows that she will boost ratings.”
