Wow!Queen Elizabeth’s Buckingham Palace Home to Undergo $460 Million in Renovations

Buckingham Palace is getting a facelift!

Queen Elizabeth‘s home is set to undergo $460 million in renovations beginning in April 2017 and lasting for a decade, officials announced on Friday, Nov. 18, according to People.

“Buckingham Palace is one of the most iconic buildings in the world, and this program is designed to extend its working life by a further 50 years. On completion of the work, we’ll have a Palace fit for purpose until 2067,” the Master of the Queen’s Household, Tony Johnstone-Burt, said in a statement.

Though the Queen and her family — she and Prince Philip celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary this Sunday! — won’t have to move out during the renovations, they will likely have to switch rooms. Fortunately, this isn’t the Queen’s only residence! The 90-year-old spends weekends at Windsor Castle, summers in Scotland and the holiday season in Norfolk, England.
