‘Property Brothers’ Moments You Probably Didn’t Know Are Staged

If there’s one thing we love about Property Brothers, it’s twin brothers/co-hosts Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott. But even their chiseled good looks and charisma can’t hide the fact that there are some moments of the popular renovation show that are entirely staged. We know — we were shocked too!

Like most HGTV programs, participants who sign up to be featured usually already have a home or are at least close to closing on one. Once Drew and Jonathan enter the picture, sometimes the home has already been purchased and participants are simply going through the motions to snag some amazing renovations at a discount. But even with the renovations, there’s a catch. Watch the video below to find out more!

Although there are several moments in Property Brothers that are staged, one thing that’s real is the staging furniture. Couples get to keep every piece of it — unlike other shows.

“Every one of our shows, where it’s a homeowner moving in, they all keep the furniture,” Jonathan told Popsugar. “I’ve heard that some other shows take it all away and I was like, ‘Uh . . . That’s a jerk move.’ You get someone to fall in love with a room and then you’re like, ‘See ya!’ So no, everything that you see on TV stays.”

And speaking of Jonathan, if you’re wondering if he’s single, he’s not. He’s currently dating Jacinta Kuznetsov, a 28-year-old development producer. As for Drew, he’s engaged.

“This is the most humbling, unexpected, fantastic place to be in my life,” Jonathan told People about his relationship. “I’ve never been happier.”
