What?!Prince Harry Was the Original Owner of Princess Diana’s Stunning Sapphire Engagement Ring, Not Prince William

That’s what brothers are for! It’s been revealed that Prince Harry was the original keeper of his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring up until his big bro Prince William snagged it to give to his now-wife, Kate Middleton, back in 2010.

Daily Star reports that when Diana died in 1997, her two sons were allowed to each choose something as a “keepsake” from her jewelry collection. “William picked his mom’s Cartier watch, and Harry picked her sapphire and diamond engagement ring,” an insider told the news outlet.

It’s been said that Harry and William had a pact that whoever got engaged first would get to use the diamond and sapphire beauty. But now that Will has gotten down on one knee long before Harry, we can’t help but wonder if he regrets his decision to give up the ring, especially now that he’s dating Suits actress Meghan Markle.

The couple jet-setted to Africa earlier this week to celebrate Meghan’s birthday as well as their first anniversary. That said, royal fans are wondering if he’ll finally propose during the getaway, especially since William proposed to Kate in the exact location!

According to Daily Star, Harry is in the midst of creating an engagement ring for Meghan made out of one of Diana’s prized pieces — her diamond bracelet! The ring will allegedly feature emerald diamonds from the bracelet. So pretty! Here’s hoping Harry and Meghan return from their trip with some big news (as well as a shiny piece honoring Diana).
