Prince Michael Jackson II is opening up about being the son of Michael Jackson.
The King of Pop's oldest child — commonly known as Prince — got candid in a new interview about how he's keeping his father's name alive nearly eight years after his untimely death.
His method? Creating his own identity. "I'm not a fan of having my private or personal life being out there," the 20-year-old said during Good Morning America on Monday, March 6. "But I understand the importance of showing what I do and hopefully trying to inspire others to continue spreading the good and helping the community."

And even though Prince tries to remain as low-key as possible, there's no doubt he and his 18-year-old sister, Paris Jackson, have been susceptible to the spotlight over the years. "As we were growing up, my dad always said, 'I really don't care what you do in life as long as you're happy doing it and you're the best at what you do. If you want to be a janitor at a high school, you should be the best janitor that you can be,'" he shared. "I think that he would always be the supporting figure to me and my siblings and support us in all the endeavors that we try."
Michael — who passed away at age 50 in June 2009 — welcomed Prince in February 1997 and Paris in April 1998 with his first wife, Debbie Rowe. He is also a father to a son, Blanket, 15.
Over the years, Prince and his sister have paid tribute to their father in emotional ways. In August 2016, Prince shared a touching sonnet written by himself in Michael's memory. "Happy birthday to the man who was more than a legend. I love you," Prince wrote alongside his kind words at the time.
Paris also shared the photo on her own Instagram page writing, "Love this... proud of you big brother. And happy birthday to the man that means more to us than anything and anyone ever could."
