They’re adding a special touch to their upcoming royal wedding! Kensington Palace recently confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have invited some very important wedding guests to their May 19 ceremony — 250 members of the British Armed Forces.

“Regiments and units that hold a special relationship with Prince Harry will provide ceremonial support at the wedding and during the carriage procession at the request of Kensington Palace,” the official statement, released on Wednesday, March 28, read. “More than 250 members of the Armed Forces will perform ceremonial duties at the wedding.”

“Prince Harry and Ms. Markle are pleased that members of the Armed Forces will play such a special role in their wedding. The Military and these units, in particular, hold a great significance for Prince Harry and the couple are incredibly grateful for their support,” the statement continued. According to the announcement, “members of the Household Cavalry will form a staircase party at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle as part of the wedding.”

There will also be units lining the streets of Windsor, including members from the 1st Battalion Irish Guards of the Windsor Castle Guard, Royal Navy Small Ships and Diving, Royal Marines, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps, The Royal Gurkha Rifles, and RAF Honington. Harry has either served with, or has close ties with all of the units, and he even holds high-ranking titles in some of them.

Harry has had an extensive military career, starting when he first joined The Blues and Royals back in 2006. He “served with the Household Cavalry Regiment, undertaking two tours of Afghanistan,” and has since risen to the rank of Captain. Having these military members at his big day probably means so much to the 33-year-old!

With less than two months until Harry and Meghan tie the knot, more and more exciting wedding details are being revealed. Many people are expecting Harry to wear his military uniform, similarly to how his brother Prince William did when he wed Kate Middleton. And with the news of the 250 or so military members joining the upcoming nuptials, it only makes further sense. We’re just waiting to hear more about Meghan’s sure-to-be stunning wedding dress!
