Julianne Moore may be a successful actress — and a five-time Oscar nominee! — but her main focus has always been on her family.
“I worked for 10 years in television and off-Broadway theater without even making a dent in the film world,” recalls Julianne, 54, whose early roles included playing twin sisters on 'As the World Turns.'
She didn’t feel successful offscreen, either. “I was lonely,” she says of her first marriage to John Gould Rubin, whom she wed when she was 25 and divorced nine years later in 1995.

"I'd spend my 20s working hard and trying to get to wherever 'there' was, which wasn't really anywhere. It was just a job, and I really wanted a family," the actress shares.

"There's an expectation that your personal else is going to happen to you, but you're going to have to make your career happen," says Julianne. "And that's not true: You have to make your personal life happen as much as your career."
