Nicole Kidman recently made headlines for her weird clapping at the 2017 Oscars on Sunday, Feb. 26 — and now the actress is explaining her strange behavior!

“It was really awkward,” the 49-year-old star admitted during a radio interview with Australian duo Kyle and Jackie O on Wednesday, March 8.

“I was like, ‘I wanna clap, I don’t wanna not be clapping’ — that’d be worse, right? Like ‘Why isn’t Nicole clapping?’ So, therefore, I’m clapping but it was really difficult because I had a huge ring on that was not mine — but it was absolutely gorgeous — and I was terrified of damaging it,” Nicole explained.

The mom-of-four — accompanied by her handsome husband, Keith Urbanstunned at the 89th Academy Awards in am embroidered, nude Armani Privé gown. She accessorized the gorgeous look with more than 119-carats of Harry Winston jewelry and a vintage Omega “secret” wristwatch.

Nicole’s Harry Winston jewels included a pair of Winston cluster diamond and red spinel drop earrings — which perfectly matched her bold, red lipstick! — a vintage, cluster diamond bracelet in platinum, a diamond bracelet in platinum and a cluster, pear-shaped diamond ring in platinum.

During her recent radio interview, Nicole additionally opened up about the crazy Oscars moment when La La Land was mistakenly named Best Picture over actual winner Moonlight at the end of the award show.

“It was bizarre. I wasn’t sure what was going on,” she recalled. “No one in the audience was. Then there was some shuffling, envelopes — and people rushing onstage… I was like ‘What is going on?'”

Watching the moment unfold from the audience, Nicole said she thought someone onstage might have needed medical attention. “I thought someone wasn’t well… and then I saw people’s faces dropping. It was bizarre,” she added.
