The film — written and directed by Sofia Coppola — is based on the 1966 novel of the same name and was filmed from late October 2016 until early December 2016.
The story takes place during the Civil War in the mid-1800s and is about a wounded soldier that finds shelter in an isolated girls school in Virgina. During his stay, sexual tension and rivalry come about within the house all leading to an unexpected turn of events.
The remake of the 1971 film first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month. It was there where Sofia won the award for Best Director. Now we really can't wait to see the movie!

The premiere of the blockbuster comes just in time for Nicole's 50th birthday, which is today! The star opened up in a previous interview about how she will be celebrating her special day.
"[I want] to hang with my divine husband and my kids and my sister," she said of Keith Urban, who she's been married to since 2006. The country singer really supported Nicole at Cannes in May.
At the event, Nicole gushed about the couple's marriage. "Keith and I always say that we are just so lucky to have each other. In this world, to be able to come back to that love and that strength is so nourishing and powerful," she said at the time. "And I am coming up an 11-year wedding anniversary, 12 years together, and that’s a big thing. And that is through absolute commitment and kindness, the desire to protect and help each other, what our relationship is." Too cute!
