"After medical school, sure!" Nia, 53, quips to Closer. It's the kind of joke you’d expect from the writer and star of the blockbuster My Big Fat Greek Wedding and a self-proclaimed “over-involved” mom.

But motherhood has been a special blessing for Nia and her husband, Cougar Town’s Ian Gomez, 51, who tried to become parents for a decade before adopting Ilaria in 2008.
Now Nia’s adventures in parenthood are the genesis of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, out now. “Every movie I write is rooted in my life, and I put all my experiences in this sequel,” she shares. “It’d be interesting to write about prison. I might commit a crime just so I can do it!”
