After enduring more than 10 years of infertility struggles and in-vitro fertilization treatments, Lisa McLaughlin, 56, finally gave birth to twins just one week before she suddenly died.
McLaughlin and her husband of 16 years, Mike, 67, welcomed their premature twin boys, Jordan and Dylan, on Dec. 27, 2014.
"She was just on cloud nine [after giving birth]" Mike remembered in a new interview. "That's the happiest I've probably seen her in my life."
“She held the babies and was able to stroke them and love them,” her husband added.

After returning home from the hospital, McLaughlin began having stomach pains, but believed them to be caused by her C-section incision.
Sadly, the new mom passed away from a bowel obstruction in her home on Jan. 4, 2015 — just eight days after she held her miracle babies for the first time.

"We are terribly saddened at the sudden loss of such a dear friend. Lisa was always a pleasure to work with, bringing a joyous and exuberant personality to everything she did," a coworker of McLaughlin — who went to medical school to become a doctor after a successful career as a lawyer — said in a statement, according to 'Afro.com.'
Following his wife's death, Mike McLaughlin plans to move back to his hometown of Omaha, Neb. to raise his sons with the help of extended family members, he told 'Omaha.com.'
