In an interview with Closer Weekly, Morgan Freeman reveals how he found lasting success in Hollywood — Paul Newman, and “luck.” Morgan admits he went through a hard time in the ’80s because of his career slump. “I thought my 15 minutes were up,” he recalls.

Paul offered the now 80-year-old actor a part in his 1984 drama Harry & Son and the role was the boost he needed to continue to pursue his acting dreams. “Just when I was about to give it up to get [another] job, Paul came along,” he explains. Now over 30 years later, Morgan says, “Show business is my life.”
