Just days after Morgan Freeman‘s goddaughter, E’Dena Hines, was tragically killed, the actor has returned to work on his newest film.

The 78-year-old star was spotted on location in NYC shooting the upcoming movie Going in Style on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Dressed in a suit, Morgan can be seen walking around the set shielded by a black umbrella held by crew members.

This is the first time the Oscar winner has been out in public since his 33-year-old goddaughter — also referred to as his step-granddaughter by some media outlets — was murdered in NYC’s Washington Heights neighborhood on Sunday, Aug. 16.

According to police, E’Dena was stabbed multiple times in the upper body and was then taken to Harlem Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The young woman’s boyfriend, Lamar Davenport, 30, has allegedly been charged with murder and taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation. According to an eyewitness, Davenport seemed to be performing an exorcism at the time of E’Dena’s death.

“The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace,” Morgan said in a statement following E’Dena’s passing.
