Is Monica Potter pregnant? That's what the actress' 65,000 Instagram followers assumed after the Parenthood star shared a cryptic baby bump photo via the social media platform on Wednesday, Jan. 17. "I have something to share..." she captioned the belly shot.
Fans quickly took to the comments to congratulate Monica. However, some noticed the bottle of Miralax in the background and wondered if it wasn't really her pregnant tummy after all...
On Thursday, Jan. 18, Monica confirmed in an Instagram video series that she's suffering from ulcerative colitis and that photo was to raise awareness, not to announce a pregnancy. "Thank you to everyone who has sent me well wishes. I’m not pregnant but wanted to shed some light on some issues we all may deal with, especially women. It’s never really talked about because it’s not sexy, pretty, our glamorous to say the least, so I decided to share a photo to possibly inspire my friends (you), create a platform to share stories, and rely on each other for support and guidance," she began.
"I’ve had colitis for almost two years and sometimes when I get flare-ups it’s painful and frustrating, so for all of you who suffer from colitis or other abdominal issues, please know you’re not alone," Monica continued. "I’m going for a check up on Friday and following up with colonoscopy this month. I want to stress the importance of getting regular check-ups with your gastroenterologist or family physician. I hope this open discussion will lead to many other things we face as women, mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, and every role we take on."
She added, "Take time for yourself and go get checked. Even if you’re not having issues it’s important. Please note that I am not sponsored by anyone but me. I did this on my own, and just wanted to share. That being said, a huge thank you to these foundations that are bringing awareness and guidance to all of us for better health💜 ." How amazing of Monica to bring such attention to an important cause like this.
If the 46-year-old were pregnant, it'd be with her fourth child. She was married to Tom Potter from 1990 until 1998 and the couple had two older sons, Daniel and Liam. Monica is also a mom to a daughter, Molly, 12, with her current husband, Daniel Christopher Allison. Feel better, Monica — we're keeping you in our thoughts!
