After the news broke on Thursday, Aug. 2, his superstar wife, Carrie Underwood, took to Instagram to send her well wishes for her hubby. Watch the video below to see her kind words about Mike's big career change!
Carrie has been cheering Mike on as a Nashville Predator for the past few years and while she'll miss watching her hubby on the ice, he'll miss it even more! "Endings are always tough, but I believe when something ends, there are new beginnings, new opportunities and new things to be excited for, too," Mike said of his exit. "Closing a chapter like this — one that's lasted 17 years —makes me think about the support I've received my whole life from my family, friends, even people I've never met that have prayed for me throughout my career."
Mike and Carrie previously tied the knot in 2010 and welcomed their baby son, Isaiah, in February 2015. We can't wait to see Mike focus more on being a father, but what does this mean for Carrie's iconic music career?
In February, Carrie announced that she'd be taking a break from music to focus on being a mom. "We just wrapped up the Storyteller Tour and I feel like my life right now, creatively, is kind of a blank space," she said at the time. "I’m really excited about that because you don’t know where you’re going to go. Im nervous because I want whatever I do next to be amazing, so I’m kind of taking a little break right now and being a mom and being a wife. I’m kind of waiting for lightning to strike and go: ‘Okay, it’s time to get creative and work on new music!’" Do you know what this means? More family pics of Carrie, Mike, and Isaiah, of course!
