He’s speaking out! Just days after In Touch revealed that Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher are headed for divorce, the 37-year-old hockey pro broke his silence on the matter on his Instagram account. Watch the video above to see Mike’s reaction!

He took to Instagram to share “one of [his] new favorite verses,” saying that he needed the “daily reminder.” The verse read, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Many of his followers praised his choice of verse, saying that they, too, turned to it during difficult times in their life. Naturally, it made sense that he would turn to this verse during his own difficult time as he’s going through a breakup with his wife of almost eight years.

As In Touch previously reported, the country crooner, 34, has hit her breaking point with the father of her child (the two share two-year-old son Isaiah Fisher). “Carrie has wanted more quality time with Mike. They’ve only been on a couple of vacations together in the seven years they’ve been married,” a source revealed, adding that his decision to come out of retirement to return to the rink impacted their marriage in a negative way.

“She really thought that Mike’s retirement was going to give them the time they needed to work on making their family stronger. His decision put a huge strain on their marriage. If Carrie and Mike continue to grow apart, it will surely end in divorce for them. And that would be heartbreaking,” the insider said. The source added that Carrie’s desire to have another baby was also causing problems for the husband and wife. “Carrie’s been desperate to have a little brother or sister for Isaiah. But she’s been struggling to get pregnant,” the source said.

“She was hoping Mike would become more involved in the process of possible IVF treatments, if it came to that… Mike isn’t always cognizant of Carrie’s feelings and needs.”
