Michael famously left Live after four years on the program back in April 2016 to instead join the Good Morning America team. At the time, Kelly found out about her co-star’s abrupt exit from the series at the same time as viewers — and was not happy about it.

After a year of seaching for a new co-host, Kelly announced Ryan was officially joining Live in May 2017. “Today, the next chapter of the Live story is about to be written,” the 46-year-old star began her first show with Ryan, 42. “So happy,” the former American Idol star told Kelly. “So exciting!”

In a previous interview, Michael revealed he and Kelly had a falling out after he announced he was leaving Live. “At one point I think we were friends. I don’t know what happened at the end. I learned a lot from her, though,” he said.

“I wasn’t surprised by her reaction [to my exit] at all, but I can’t control somebody else’s actions. I was there four years, and it’s about more than just being in front of the camera,” Michael told People.
