Despite their recent new year’s trip to Canada as a family, it appears that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are taking their reconciliation slow.

While Michael was getting ready for tonight’s Golden Globes in LA, Catherine was spotted getting a manicure with daughter Carys in Mount Kisco, NY, close to the family’s Bedford home.

An eyewitness tells Closer: “[Catherine] and Carys got manicures at Metro Nails & Spa on South Moger Avenue in Mount Kisco. They stayed for about 40 mins.”

Commenting on Catherine’s appearance, the eyewitness said, “Catherine looked great – smiling, laughing, playful demeanor with her daughter. Carys asked if she could drive the car home since her mom’s nails were still wet which made Catherine laugh.”

At an event in LA, Michael was upbeat when asked about the ski trip. “Holidays were great,” he told Closer. “We have a little farm up in Canada where we go to visit in Quebec. A little colder than Rocky Mountain skiing, a couple of -15 days, but make them short.”

In response to a question about Catherine, Michael answered, “Everything is good with the family.”

Though Catherine will not be accompanying the Golden Globe nominee to tonight’s awards, it looks like the duo is ready to start anew in 2014.
