In a new statement made on Sept. 2, Melissa Rivers, the 46-year-old daughter of Joan Rivers, confirms that her mother remains on life support five days after being rushed to the hospital.
"On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received," she shares. "I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."

Five days after Joan Rivers was rushed to the hospital after suffering complications during a throat procedure, her family is weighing their options against the clinic that put her there, reports claim.
Joan stopped breathing during vocal chord surgery on Aug. 28 and was immediately brought to Mount Sinai Hospital from the Manhattan clinic where the surgery was being performed. The comedian remains in stable condition and doctors have reportedly taken her out of a medically-induced coma.
A source tells the NY Daily News the family is nervous that damage to the 81-year-old's motor functions will leave her in a wheelchair, or worse, a vegetative state.
In Melissa Rivers most recent statement regarding her mother's health, the 46-year-old said, "We are keeping our fingers crossed," but didn't elaborate on any previous medical reports. She had previously thanked fans for their support, stating, "My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world."
As Joan's Fashion Police co-hosts spoke out about the incident via Twitter, a special New York Fashion Week taping of the show has been canceled while doctors continue to assess the fiery performer, reports the Daily News.
