OH NO!Melissa McCarthy Reveals She Wasn’t Invited to Star in the ‘Gilmore Girls’ Netflix Reboot

It seems the upcoming Gilmore Girls Netlifx reboot will sadly have one very important character missing… Sookie St. James!

Just days after it was announced a revamp of the beloved mother-daughter dramedy was in the works, one of the show’s original stars, Melissa McCarthy, revealed she wasn’t asked to be a part of the new series.

In response to a fan urging the 45-year-old actress to return to Stars Hollow — the fictional Connecticut town where main characters Lorelai and Rory Gilmore (played by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, respectively) live — Melissa tweeted, “Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!”

Melissa previously portrayed Sookie, a professional chef and Lorelai’s best friend, in 153 episodes throughout the hit show’s seven seasons, which aired from 2000 to 2007. The series’ Netflix revamp, tentatively titled Gilmore Girls: Seasons, will reportedly consist of four 90-minute episodes.
