A royal engagement means a new lifestyle for Meghan Markle! Now that the actress is set to wed Prince Harry, it seems her small screen career is coming to an end, which means she will no longer be on Suits after Season 7.
"I think what’s been so exciting [transitioning] out of my career and into, as you said, the causes I can focus even more energy on, very early out of the gate, [is that you] have a voice that people listen to, a lot of responsibility," Meghan said in her first official interview on Monday, Nov. 27. "There’s a lot to do," Harry added.
"I see it is a new change, a new chapter," Meghan added. "I’ve been working on my show seven years, we were so fortunate to have that longevity, and I feel like I checked that box and am very proud of the work I’ve done there."
On Nov. 13, Us Weekly reported that not only is Meghan preparing for her exit, but so is her co-star Patrick J. Adams. "She isn’t the main cast member on the show, and quite frankly, everyone already thinks she’s not coming back," said an insider, explaining that the show will continue without her. “[Patrick] was always leaving the show. He made his mind up a while ago,” continued the source. “Patrick wants to pursue other things and he’s realized his time at Suits has come to an end. They were waiting for Gabriel Macht to sign. He’s going back so there will be a season 8 and as of now, 9.”
Apparently, the storyline will include some sort of wedding between the pair's characters Mike and Rachel, which “will make it an easy break for Meghan to leave as well.” The report would confirm what rumors have been saying for months. In October, the UK's The Daily Star Sunday said that the 36-year-old actress has quit the hit USA legal drama amid rumors she and Harry will announce their royal engagement by Christmas (they announced it days after Thanksgiving). Meghan reportedly told Suits execs she will not return for the series' upcoming eighth season.
"Meghan knows she can't really act at the same time as being a princess and is happy to make this career sacrifice," a source told the news outlet on Sunday, Oct. 15. "She really enjoys her charity work with Unicef and will broaden out her charity commitments when she becomes a full-time royal." Meghan has played paralegal Rachel Zane on Suits since July 2011.

Interestingly, a source told E! Online earlier this year that Meghan is "ready to be done with Suits" and with "acting in general." "Even before Harry, she was starting to think about transitioning out of acting," an insider revealed at the time. "She wants to focus on other worldly endeavors she is passionate about, like her philanthropy."
Grazia Daily recently reported that Suits showrunners were attempting to give Meghan's character, Rachel, a more juicy storyline in hopes of keeping the royal-in-training on the series for another season. "Meghan will have a storyline in Season 7 which will see her have children. The producers must be keen for her to stay on until [Season 8] because of all of the attention the show is getting," a source told the entertainment news outlet. "There’s no doubt that ratings are going to soar because of her. They don’t want the spotlight on the show to end."

Rumors also abounded that Meghan's ready to leave Hollywood after she shut down her popular lifestyle blog, The Tig, in April 2017. "After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it's time to say goodbye to The Tig," she announced last spring. "What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun, and frivolity. You've made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy... Thank you for everything."
