Matthew Morrison is trading in glee for gloom!
The 38-year-old former Glee star is reportedly joining the cast of Grey's Anatomy in a guest starring role. TVLine originally reported that the medical drama was looking to cast a character who is "appealing, charismatic, and charming,” yet "manipulative" with a "scary dark side." Fans of the show were quick to point out that the description sounds like it could be for Dr. Jo Wilson's abusive husband!

If Matthew is joining the cast to portray Jo's husband, what will that mean for Camilla Luddington's character's relationship with Dr. Alex Karev (aka Justin Chambers)? One of the main questions from this season is whether Alex and Jo will be able to reconcile after his arrest for physically assaulting Dr. Andrew Deluca (Giacomo Gianniotti).

Executive producer and star Debbie Allen previously admitted that introducing Jo's husband as a character in the show is a serious possibility.
"It’s the elephant in the room, the one piece that we have not been able to fit into the puzzle of why they [Alex and Jo] have not been able to get married, what she’s been holding back and what she’s been dealing with," she said. "It gives us great story."
