Well, this is a bit awkward! Matt Lauer was fired from Today on Nov. 29 following sexual misconduct allegations, and now that it’s almost been a year since his shocking termination, Us Weekly chatted with his former co-worker Megyn Kelly to see if she thinks he has a chance at a comeback.

She said she had no comment on the matter, however, she did make one shocking claim. “I know too much that others don’t know,” Megyn remarked. Interesting…

Shortly after Matt left the morning talk show, Megyn sat down with former Today production assistant Addie Zinone om Megyn Kelly Today to discuss the sexual relationship she had with Matt at just 24 years old. When Megyn was asked by Us if she’s spoken to Matt since that controversial public interview, she confessed: “not at all.”

The TV personality also added, “All I’m going to say is that I feel very strongly about the #MeToo coverage, the importance of doing it without fear or favor. I didn’t let anyone stop me at Fox, and I’m not going to let anyone stop me at NBC.” You go, girl!

So it turns out, Matt and Megyn allegedly weren’t getting along before his termination. When Matt appeared on Megyn Kelly Today in early November to share his recipe for spaghetti carbonara, the veteran Today anchor was the perfect guest. He charmed Megyn’s audience during the segment by jokingly asking if she could separate eggs and even high-fived her at the end. But, according to In Touch, Matt was just playing along. Off-camera, however, he hadn’t bothered to hide his displeasure.

According to sources, the 60-year-old had been poking fun at Megyn’s troubled talk show since the former Fox News anchor premiered on the 9 a.m. hour in September 2017. And in late October 2017, Matt was reportedly overheard saying, “I get it” after being told that some celebrities have been advised to not go on his colleague’s show. But when word of that latest diss got to NBC’s top brass, Matt was apparently called in for a meeting

“He was told it was time to get on board with Megyn’s show or he could find another place to work,” an insider previously told In Touch. But Matt showed no remorse. “He said if someone overheard his comments, oh well,” the insider revealed. Matt thought execs couldn’t touch him. “There is no heir apparent to take over for him, or even someone being groomed for his position for down the road,” the source added.  Little did he know he’d be fired weeks later for “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.”

Though Matt clashed with his bosses, the real source of his anger remained Megyn at the time. The two media powerhouses had butted heads after Megyn joined the network, and Matt felt it wasn’t his fault. “He tried to welcome Megyn with open arms,” the insider confessed. “He genuinely tried to give her advice about how to succeed in morning television, but she wasn’t interested in hearing it. He’s had enough.” Apparently, Today had enough of him, not Megyn…
