Though it's been more than a decade since their sit-down, Matt Lauer still can't seem to get over his awkward 2005 interview with Tom Cruise!
The two were previously embattled in a heated argument on Today regarding psychiatry — and with the actor's ex-wife, Katie Holmes, starring as a bipolar poet in the upcoming film Touched With Fire, Matt couldn't resist asking the actress what she thought of his past conversation with Tom!

Though the 37-year-old Dawson's Creek star — who divorced Tom in 2012 — managed to avoid the question and uncomfortable moment, she responded, "What I think our director [Paul Dalio] did a wonderful job with is this movie just kind of shows, this is it."

"These are these two characters in a love story, which he's saying is kind of its own kind of mania, to fall in love," she continued. "But he puts the question out there for the audience to make their own decision."
Matt previously opened up about how he felt during that troublesome interaction 10 years ago. "I was thinking, 'Can I take him in a wrestling match? Could I tackle him on the set?’” he recently told host Andy Cohen of the tense one-on-one.
