In the new issue of 'Closer Weekly,' Marie Osmond exclusively opens up about her weight loss journey and shares her best tips for staying fit.
Like many, Marie admits that she has “stepped on the scale and screamed ‘How did this happen?’” after an indulgent holiday season.
The Nutrisystem spokesperson relies on diet and exercise to stay in shape: “I like the saying: Eat a little less — dance a little more,” she tells 'Closer.' “To date, I have lost 50 pounds... My knees and joints thank me!”

Her advice for staying happy and healthy? “Be selfish!” jokes Marie. “It all begins with loving yourself and putting yourself first.”
But she also stays fit for her family. Once overweight and left gasping in the midst of a rehearsal, Marie recalls: “My oldest child, Stephen, was waiting in the wings, and said, ‘Mom, please take care of yourself. We’d like to have you around to know our children, too.’”

The star tells 'Closer' that her mother made Marie promise to take care of herself. “I take my mother’s advice to heart,” says Marie. “I put myself first. I make time to take care of myself — for me and for my family.”
