Jay Hernandez to Star in Upcoming ‘Magnum, P.I.’ Reboot (REPORT)

There’s a new Thomas Magnum in town! You may remember Tom Selleck‘s iconic role from the hit show Magnum, P.I., but in the upcoming CBS reboot, a new face will reportedly play the part: Jay Hernandez.

Variety reports that the handsome actor, 40, will portray the ex-Navy SEAL who returns home after being in Afghanistan and uses his skills to become a private investigator. Tom, who played the role before, will seemingly continue his stint on Blue Bloods.

In the past, Jay has had notable roles in movies like Suicide Squad and Bad Moms, and also in shows including Scandal, Nashville, and The Expanse. He’s yet to confirm his place on the upcoming series, and CBS has not released when it will premiere on the small screen. There hasn’t been any other casting talk, but following John Hillerman’s recent death (he played Higgins), we’re dying to know who will step in to play his part.

In a previous exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Tom opened up about why he left the spotlight after his eight-year-long gig with Magnum, P.I.Magnum, P.I. went to 163 shows,” he shared. “We still had ground to cover, and I wasn’t tired of it. I was tired from it because I was in every shot. Blue Bloods is a different deal [from Magnum, P.I.]. I don’t work every day.” Here’s hoping Tom still decides to make a cameo in the upcoming revival!
