Madonna is getting candid about her marriage to Guy Ritchie and revealed her ex-husband stifled her creativity during their eight-year union.
"I did find myself sometimes in a state of conflict. There were many times when I wanted to express myself as an artist in ways that I don't think my ex-husband felt comfortable with," Madonna, 56, said in a new interview. "There were times when I felt incarcerated. I wasn't really allowed to be myself."

Though she and the British director ultimately divorced in 2008, the 'Material Girl' singer admitted she now understands marriage often comes with concessions from each partner in a relationship.
"I think when you get married, you have to be willing to make a lot of compromises and that's fair enough. I think that's the way it goes in relationships," the mom-of-four said.

Since their split, the pop icon has been linked to several much-younger men — including Timor Steffens, Brahim Zaibat and Jesus Luz — all of whom were in their early twenties when they dated the singer.
In the interview, Madonna also criticized people who have denounced her for dating men more than half her age, calling the jabs "unfair."
"It's okay if Mick Jagger dates a 25-year-old girl, but if I date a 25-year-old man I'm, you know... it's ridiculous. It's so unfair, I mean, I don't get it," she told 'The Sun.'
