You have to admit, it’s great to see Leah Remini and Kevin James back on the small screen together after all this time. But, even though we miss King of the Queens, fans aren’t happy that the co-stars are essentially making Kevin Can Wait like a reboot of the show.

One Twitter user wrote, “CBS’s Kevin Can Wait is astonishing. Its a bizarro world filled with old King of Queens characters in nonsensical roles.” Someone else added, “Kevin Can Wait is basically The King of Queens part 2.”

Another joked, “I wonder how long till they write in that all the kids died in an avalanche and Jerry Stiller moves in. #KevinCanWait.” However, one fan is happy about the change. They wrote, “Kevin Can Wait has officially turned into King of Queens… and so far it’s been hilarious.”

Leah guest-starred on Kevin Can Wait during the last few episodes of Season 1, but after they fired (and killed off) Kevin Gable’s wife Donna Gable (played by Erinn Hayes), she became a series regular for Season 2. Kevin and Leah portrayed husband and wife Doug and Carrie Heffernan on The King of Queens from 1998 until 2007, but in Kevin Can Wait they’re work partners who supposedly do not get romantically involved.

The 47-year-old actress once gushed that she had no doubts about joining the sitcom. “I got a call: ‘Do you want to do some more episodes?’ I said, ‘Yeah, of course, anything,'” Leah previously shared. “They said, ‘Okay, so you’re going to be doing all the episodes.’ I was like, ‘What?! For Kevin, anything.”

And since KOQ went off the air ten years ago, the two remained in touch. “We’re always in touch. She’s in my life forever. I can’t get rid of her!” Kevin previously joked. Leah added, “We’ve seen each other. It was cool reuniting the two characters.” Do you think Kevin Can Wait is too much like King of Queens?
