Kelsey Grammer on His Growing Family, “We May Want More Babies”

With five Emmys, four marriages, six kids (one of whom is a newborn) and one grandchild, Kelsey Grammer would seem like a good candidate to slow down! But in the new issue of Closer, the Frasier vet shares he’s just getting started.

“I may want to have a bigger family,” the 59-year-old hints to Closer of having more children with wife Kayte. “We talk about it. I love being a dad and I have for some time now. This is just the next chapter of that part of my life, and I’m ecstatic about it.”

Kelsey’s eldest daughter, actress Spencer Grammer, is 30 and has a 2-year-old son of her own named Emmett. “He’s a terrific kid,” Kelsey tells Closer. “He was over the other day. My [2-year-old] daughter Faith — his aunt! — and my grandson were swimming together. They get along really well. So that’s been fun.”

And on July 22, Emmett got a new uncle when Kelsey and Kayte welcomed their son, Kelsey Gabriel Elias Grammer, who will go by Gabriel.

“The great thing about my life is I’m always prepared for surprises,” Kelsey says of Gabriel. “I would never anticipate what it’s going to be like — easy, difficult or otherwise. I just take it in stride. We’re prepared! We’re just happy about our new arrival.”
