It's been two years since Katie Holmes shocked Tom Cruise by filing for divorce, but the actress isn't one to dwell on the past.
During an appearance on the Today Show, co-host Matt Lauer brought up the period of "uber-fame" Katie experienced from 2006-2012 while married to the A-list movie star.
"Do you ever think you would make a deal and trade some of that fame to go back to that person you were beforehand?" he candidly asked the 35-year-old, who first got her big break on the '90s drama Dawson's Creek.
"You know what? I never really look back," Katie responded. "I just approach life [taking] it one day at a time. I'm really excited about where I am right now. I've had some really wonderful creative experiences. I'm just really grateful."
The Batman Begins star also opened about parenting 8-year-old daughter Suri. Unable to give her the "gift of normalcy," Katie said she's trying her best to give Suri a taste of her own blissful childhood back in Ohio.
"I try very hard because I'm very grateful for my upbringing, my parents, my siblings. I try to do what they did for me for my little one," the Manhattan-based mom shared.

"The most important thing for me is letting her know how proud I am and her accomplishments mean everything," Katie added. "Whatever I do is whatever. It's really just about her. That's what I think is most important."
The brunette beauty can be seen next in the upcoming drama, The Giver, based on the beloved Lois Lowry novel of the same name. Playing the unnamed mother of hero Jonas, Katie said of the role, "I approached it like all mothers when their child is leaving the nest. There's a pain. There's a loss."
