Katie Couric Dishes on Her New TV Gig — “I’m Excited About Where I’m Going!”

Congrats, Katie Couric!

The 60-year-old star just landed an exciting new TV gig with the National Geographic channel. Katie’s upcoming, six-part documentary series — which is yet-to-be-titled — will be a break-down of world news to help viewers better understand current events.

“I want to kind of take a step back and connect the dots, and really explain to people what things mean for the big picture,” the famed journalist exclusively told Closer Weekly in a recent interview. “So maybe I should call it The Big Picture!”

In addition to her new National Geographic role, Katie is still working as Yahoo!‘s Global News Anchor. In the past, the mom-of-two has hosted her own daytime talk show, Katie, co-hosted the Today show, served as an anchor on CBS Evening News, and worked as a correspondent on 60 Minutes.

While speaking to Closer at the Time 100 Gala on Tuesday, April 25, Katie added that she’s excited to still be taking on new work projects at age 60. “I’m excited about where I am and where I’m going,” she said. “I feel I have a lot to contribute to the world, so it’s all good!”

In another interview with Closer, Katie gushed about recently ringing in her milestone birthday. “I was dreading it… even though that isn’t what I’m supposed to say!” she said. “If you put out a lot of positive energy, it helps you with the aging process.”
