It’s been more than two years since Kathie Lee Gifford’s beloved husband, former New York Giants football player Frank Gifford, died at age 84 in August 2015. And now, Kathie Lee has admitted that she’s open to the idea of finding love again — but hasn’t had much luck in the dating department so far.

“Who doesn’t want to find love again? I think my probability is less, obviously. I think some men are afraid of strong women — I wouldn’t be interested in a man like that anyway,” the 64-year-old Today star said during a Wednesday, March 14 Access Live interview. “And some men are afraid of living up to the mantle of Frank Gifford, and there’s no reason for that. Frank was just a flawed man like anybody else is.”

She continued, “I didn’t know him as an eight-time Hall of Famer. He was my husband and he was my friend for four years before we fell in love. So if that’s part of God’s will for me, I’m certainly open to it. I’m not out at singles bars. I’m not online.” While speaking to hosts Natalie Morales and Kit Hoover, KLG confessed she has gone on one ill-fated date in the nearly three years since Frank’s passing.

“He didn’t share my faith and couldn’t understand why I didn’t want to be with him. I said, ‘My faith isn’t something I do on Sunday mornings for an hour. My faith is me, and I’m not going to share my life with somebody or even another hour of my life on a date with you if you don’t share the same passion for your faith as I do,'” Kathie Lee shared. Luckily, that one bad date hasn’t dissuaded the star from trying again. “I’m not deterred. I’m open to anybody that has their own teeth, honestly!” she joked.

During a recent exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, a source close to Kathie Lee revealed she is now “looking for companionship, someone to laugh with and learn from” while dating but “she doesn’t want to date a lot of different men.” Since Hoda Kotb’s BFF is now in her 60s, the insider confessed that Kathie Lee is also finding the modern ways of dating to be quite daunting. “[She’s worried she might be] considered old-fashioned if she actually wanted to speak to a date on the telephone,” the source said. “[Plus], a lot of men want to date younger women and so it has been more challenging than she expected.”

Lucky for Kathie Lee, members of her close family have all expressed their support of her dating again following Frank’s death. “[Her kids, Cody and Cassidy], have given their blessing for her to date,” the source said. “[And Frank] had given her his blessing to find love again before he died. He would absolutely not want her to be alone.”
