They may have played one of cinema's most beloved couples, but Kate Winslet would like to make one thing clear: she has never "snogged" Leonardo DiCaprio outside of work.
Although the Titanic co-stars are still good friends — he walked her down the aisle at her 2012 wedding — they've never been anything more, the actress insists. "I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing," Kate shares in a new interview.
But she understands why that's tough for fans to hear. "It's so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually, we never did," she explains.
"He always saw me as one of the boys. I've never really been a girly-girl. We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system."
And despite rumors suggesting the A-list stars will have a joint 40th birthday party, Kate is quick to dismiss the idea.
"He's 40 this year and I'm 40 next...he wouldn't have a joint party with me. He really wouldn't," she explains to Marie Claire U.K. "Definitely not. He likes to have his moments."
Leo also shared his thoughts about the blonde beauty in an interview with Express last year. “We laugh at the same things," he told the paper. "She never lets me take myself seriously, even if I wanted to. We have a special magic.”
