This would be wild! Rumors are swirling that Kate Middleton could be pregnant with twins — and while we’re not totally sure if she’s having one baby or two, we do know two babies could lead to a history-making change in the royal succession.

Kate, 35, and her husband, Prince William, also 35, announced on Monday, Sept. 4 that they are expanding their family. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news,” a Kensington Palace statement read at the time. Watch the video below to find out what would happen if Kate had twins!

Though Kate and William’s official statement made it seem like the Duchess — who again suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness — is only carrying one baby, the royal couple could be keeping the news of twins hush-hush for now.

In early November, Life & Style reported that Kate and William are expecting identical twin girls. “Kate and William were both shocked when they found out,” an insider told the magazine. “[Queen Elizabeth] is thrilled to hear that her grandson and Kate are expecting twins.” If Kate does give birth to two little ones, they would be the first set of twins in the British royal family since the 15th century!

However, several other royal families around the world have had twins in recent years. Prince Albert of Monaco and his wife, Princess Charlene, welcomed their now three-year-old twins, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, in December 2014. Princess Mary of Denmark and her husband, Prince Frederik, are similarly parents to six-year-old twins, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent, who were born in January 2011.

In late October, Kensington Palace confirmed Kate’s due date is in April 2018. Even thought that’s such a busy time for the royal family (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding is just one month after), we can’t wait to see meet their newborn (or two)!
