Rumors swirled last week when Kate Middleton skipped the wedding of Prince William's friends Bear Maclean and Daisy Dickson — but now we know the real reason why the royal was missing from the lavish affair!
Though previous reports stated Kate, 33, was a last minute no-show at the nuptials, People has learned the Duchess of Cambridge was actually never expected to attend the wedding.

Kate's husband, William, also 33, instead opted to bring his wife's younger sister, Pippa Middleton, 31, as his date to the high society event this past weekend.
Bear and Daisy's wedding is just the latest in a series of nuptials Kate — who welcomed her second child, daughter Princess Charlotte in May — has chosen to politely decline an invite to. In fact, her last appearance at a marriage ceremony was in 2013 for the "I Dos" of one of William's close pals, Mark Tomlinson.

According to People, Prince George's mom prefers to skip these events because she doesn't enjoy being the center of attention. "[Will and Kate don't] like the idea of upstaging the bride and groom — they [want weddings] to be about the couple getting married and not themselves," veteran royals photographer Mark Stewart told the magazine.
