The age-old saying states, "stars, they're just like us!" And when it comes to the Cambridge clan, they continually surprise the world with just how down-to-earth they really are. Royal watchers recently got a major surprise when Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was spotted doing her own grocery shopping at the supermarket chain Waitrose in Norfolk, England just days before she's due to welcome her third child.

Of course, such a mind-blowing event didn't go unnoticed, with one shopper snapping iPhone photos — later shared on Instagram by royal fan account @royalteawithjam — of Kate in action. Somehow, the 36-year-old wife of Prince William managed to make her aisle style effortlessly chic in a peach-colored double-breasted coat by Joseph, slim-fit trousers, and black boots.

🇬🇧👑🇬🇧 Who says a future queen can’t do her own grocery shopping?! Kate was spotted at Waitrose in Norfolk picking up some groceries and loading up her own Range Rover with bags. (I think that’s our favourite royal bodyguard standing by!) “A woman used her iPhone to photograph Kate, saying the Duchess appeared to have bought a plant of coriander or parsley, with a '25 per cent off' sticker visible on the outside. The onlooker, who wished to remain anonymous, saw Kate loading the bags into her car outside the store – and when the onlooker said 'hello' to her, the Duchess is said to have replied: 'Hi, hello.' The woman said: 'I was just in Waitrose doing a bit of shopping. I just went round the corner of the aisle – and I saw her. I said to my husband 'that looks like Kate Middleton'. He said 'it's not', and I said 'it is'.' She said the Duchess, dressed in a peach coat and black heels, was using the Quick Check system, which allows my Waitrose customers to scan and pack their shopping straight into bags in the trolley as they go through the store, presenting a running total on a device. The woman spotted Kate doing her shopping inside the store, before then seeing her again 15 minutes outside when she approached her to say hello. She added: 'I just saw her browsing. I didn't want to get too close to her.' The woman said Kate was accompanied by a royal protection officer, who stood next to her as she loaded her shopping into the car. She added: 'I did actually say 'hello' to her as I walked past. She turned and said 'Hi, hello'.' So, the obvious question on everyone's minds is now — what is in Kate's shopping bag? The onlooker claimed that Kate bought either a sprig of coriander or parsley, apparently with a 25 percent off sticker on it. The bargain-hunting Duchess also brought along her own recyclable bags and purchased her goods at the self-service check-out system, before packing them into her Land Rover as a royal protection officer stood close by.

The roving royal reporter said hello to Kate and she reportedly replied, "Hi, hello," the Daily Mail reported. "I was just in Waitrose doing a bit of shopping. I just went around the corner of the aisle — and I saw her. I said to my husband, 'That looks like Kate Middleton.' He said, 'It's not,' and I said, 'It is,'" the witness recalled. "It was like a surreal experience, to see her doing everyday things," the woman added. Indeed, it's not the first time a royal has acted like us mere mortals. In 2016, Prince Harry was spotted running into his local Waitrose grocery story in Kensington, England to pick up some eggs.

Despite being on maternity leave, Kate was last pictured at the annual royal church service at St George's Chapel in Windsor on Sunday, April 1 for the Easter holiday. The soon-to-be mother-of-three is set to give birth to her third royal baby sometime this month.
