Kate Hudson is getting candid about her breakup from Matt Bellamy.
In a new interview, the 36-year-old actress opened up about ending her engagement to the English musician, 37, for the first time — and revealed they chose to call it quits because of their "different visions."

"Relationships ending are painful, and you can choose to carry that or you can choose to reframe it. If Matt and I had a great relationship, we would still be together, but we chose to move on because we had different visions of how we wanted to live our lives. That doesn't mean, though, that we can't rebuild something that would be the best thing for the kids," she told Allure.

Kate and Matt first began dating in spring 2010 and became engaged a year later in April 2011. The parents to four-year-old Bingham Hawn "Bing" Bellamy announced their split in December 2014 after more than four years together. The Almost Famous star is also a mom to an 11-year-old son, Ryder, from her first marriage to Chris Robinson.

"[After the breakup], we said, 'We need to try to create something for the kids where they feel like they're gaining something rather than losing something,'" Kate continued. "It's been a seamless transition. Kids just want to see their parents be cool. Everybody's cool; everybody's good."
