Julie Andrews has officially given her blessing for a new Mary Poppins movie!
"It's been 50 years since [the original] came out. So I think it's time," the 80-year-old actress confessed during a Today interview on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Last month, Disney announced a new version of Mary Poppins is in the works following author P.L. Travers' continuing storylines about the magical nanny's adventures with the Banks children. The film will reportedly be set 20 years after the original, 1964 movie musical.

When asked if she'd heard her former Princess Diaries costar Anne Hathaway has reportedly been in talks to play Mary in the upcoming flick, Julie sweetly replied, "She sings wonderfully and she's so talented. She can do anything."

Julie, 81, was just 30-years-old when she landed the role of magical nanny Mary Poppins and later won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance. She has since starred in many other films — including The Sound of Music, The Princess Diaries, Despicable Me and Shrek Forever After — and was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
