Just three months after Julianne Hough tied the knot with her new hubby, Brooks Laich, the former Dancing With the Stars judge is opening up about something very personal. In a candid new interview with People, the 29-year-old got candid about her battle with endometriosis.

Julianne shared that she wants people with endo to know that “It’s that it’s OK to talk about these kinds of things.” She added, “In the past, it was kind of a hush-hush thing, but it’s a way of life.” The actress could not be any more inspiring honestly. Watch the video below to learn more about Julianne’s difficult diagnosis.

Derek Hough’s little sister shared what she does to feel better when her endometriosis is acting up. “[I take] a hot bath. I have a hot water bottle that I call the boiling baby, and I sleep with it and put it next to me,” Julianne said. “Also, stretching and almost breaking a little bit of a sweat. You don’t have to, like, go for a run, but just getting my heart rate up helps with the blood flow.”

In the past, Julianne has also opened up about another health issue: her struggle with trying to stay thin when she was a teenager. “I love my shape [now] because I feel strong and fit, and that makes me feel confident. When I look at pictures of myself when I was 19, my body was bangin’, but I was killing myself,” she once said. “I was working out two and a half hours a day and eating the bare minimum to survive. I was so miserable. I wasn’t healthy. To be honest, I looked like a kid. Now I’m embracing the fact that I’m a woman with curves.” You go, Julianne!
