For his latest film, Dom Hemingway, Jude Law packed on 20 pounds to play an ex-con and admits he got used to overindulging!
“It was tough to turn it off at the end,” he shares. “It was allowing myself to say ‘yes’ to everything — ice cream . . . burgers . . . all the wrong stuff.”
director Richard Shepard appreciated the star's commitment to the role, he was more focused on keeping him alive!
“He was drinking, like, 10 sodas a day, drinking nonalcoholic beer, which is disgusting, and he was pasty-faced [from] smoking," says Richard of his leading man.
"I was like, ‘Just please don’t have a heart attack until we are done filming.’”

In 2014 and in Dallas Buyer's Club
The actor lost 40 pounds in order to play a drug addict with HIV in Dallas Buyer's Club. "I got the means to lose the weight in a really healthy way," he said. "I'm eating fresh fish. I'm just eating small amounts. I'm not being starved...I'm taking care of myself."
In 2012 and in Bridget Jones's Diary
The petite actress packed on 20 to 30 pounds to play leading lady in 2001's Bridget Jones's Diary and its 2004 sequel Bridget Jones's Diary: The Edge of Reason. "I've been eating lots of really fattening food," Renee said at the time.
In 2002 and in Cast Away
The Oscar winner shed a reported 50 pounds to play a man stuck on a deserted island in 2000's Cast Away. Tom, who was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, admitted gaining and losing weight for roles "may have had something to do with [the diagnosis]."
The actress underwent quite a physical transformation to play a ballerina in the 2010 film Black Swan. "I had never gotten that much training, Natalie said of her ballet training. "To be doing five to eight hours a day of it was really a challenge."
