Angelina Jolie's famous father, Jon Voight, recently weighed in on his daughter and her estranged husband Brad Pitt's divorce — and revealed something fans didn't expect in the process.
“I’m rooting for them. I don't want this thing to dissolve. I'm rooting for the kids,” the Ray Donovan star told Us Weekly in a new interview. “My heart is with everybody, and my daughter, certainly, and the children.”

Angelina, 41, and Brad, 53, first became an item in 2004 after meeting on the set of their action-comedy film, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Brad was married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston at the time. The actor and Angelina became engaged in April 2012 after eight years of dating and tied the knot in August 2014 at Château Miraval, France.

The former couple are parents to six children together — Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, both 8. The pair announced their separation in September 2016.
The 78-year-old additionally told the news outlet that he's grateful for everyone's support during this troubling time. “It’s a difficult time, and I don't like to talk about it, but of course, I'm thankful for everybody's good wishes and prayers,” he said. “And I hope things work out.”

At the time of their highly-publicized split news, Jon spoke out about the couple's decision to go their different ways.
“I don’t know much about it except it must be something serious,” Jon said of the couple's breakup after two years of marriage. “I just got the news and I’m concerned.”

“The priority is always the children,” he added. “I know she’s always concerned about the children.”
Closer Weekly previously reported that at the end of 2015, Jon was making amends with his superstar daughter after years of ups and downs between the two. “Jon said the words Angie has been waiting to hear for decades: ‘I’m sorry,'" an insider revealed.
