John Legend Postpones Tour Dates Due to Mystery Illness: “I’m So Sorry”

John Legend took to Twitter on Tuesday, June 20 to let his fans know that he is postponing a few of his upcoming tour dates because he needs to rest his voice after falling ill with a mystery illness.

“To all my fans in DC/Maryland/Virgina and Philadelphia/South Jersey, I want to personally apologize. I’ve gotten sick and need a few days to recover and rest my voice,” the “Love Me Now” singer, 38, wrote. “We are postponing the shows at Merriweather Post in Maryland and BB&T Pavilion in Camden. We will announce the new dates very soon.”

John promised that new dates for those shows will be rescheduled “very soon,” and said that “all tickets and seating will be honored.”

He also apologized for “the inconvenience,” adding that he “will get healthy and [looks] forward to spending the evening with you as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding.”

The Grammy winner’s announcement comes just days after his wife, Chrissy Teigen — with whom he shares daughter Luna, 14 months — surprised him for Father’s Day during his Darkness and Light tour stop in Boston on Sunday, June 18.

On Monday, June 19, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl, 31, shared an Instagram pic of herself hanging out in bed, wrapped in a blanket, and holding a celebratory cake to mark the occasion. “Successfully surprised John with a secret trip to see him in Boston :)” she captioned the snap. “Gift level 10/10.”

Chrissy and Luna had been traveling on the road with John, staying in Airbnbs in Nashville and Seattle.

“Thanks to the good people at @Airbnb for gifting me and my family a home away from home on tour!” the musician — who married the Lip Sync Battle co-host in September 2013 — shared on Instagram along with a family photo last week. “So nice to have a kitchen, a backyard, and a swinging patio couch!”
