As the daughter of Hollywood royalty, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, Jamie Lee Curtis knows the way show business works.
“When you get older, you just don’t get as many jobs,” the 56-year-old actress tells Closer. “It’s rare that someone calls you up and says, ‘Come to my office, I’d like to write a TV show for you.’”

But that's exactly what happened when Glee creator Ryan Murphy told Jamie Lee he wanted her to star in his new Fox-comedy thriller Scream Queens. "She was clearly touched that he wanted to pay tribute to her past persona," says David Grove, author of Jamie Lee Curtis: Scream Queen. "She feels very lucky to have such an opportunity at her age."

Getting hired wasn't always easy for her, even after acclaimed turns in Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda, and True Lies. To keep working, she's made some choices she regrets.

Though husband Christopher Guest supports her unconditionally, the two (who have two adult children, Annie and Thomas) have never collaborated, as she's not comfortable with his improv style in movies like Best in Show. "They're like salt and pepper, Fred Willard, who's frequently costarred with Guest, tells Closer. "That's why they work so well as a couple."
