On Monday afternoon, Will Smith also addressed the recent divorce rumors with the following statement on Facebook:
In the wake of rumors swirling that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are headed for divorce, the actress is shedding some light on her 17-year marriage.
"Every year there’s a new [rumor]," the 43-year-old said in an interview for the August 2015 issue of American Way magazine. "And I’m like, ‘Here we go. Get ready. Are ya holdin’ on tight?'"

The Magic Mike XXL star then confessed her marriage to Will, 46, hasn't always been a perfect union. "Marriages go through shifts. And relationships go through shifts because in life, things shift. So people are automatically like, ‘What’s going on? They must be getting a divorce.’ Well, no. But when people feel those shifts and there’s a mystery, they have to fill it with something," she said.
The A-list couple met in 1994 on the set of the actor's sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and started dating a year later. They married in December 1997 in Baltimore. Will and Jada are parents to two kids, son Jaden Smith, 17, and daughter Willow Smith, 14. Will is also a father to a son, Trey Smith, 22, from his first marriage to Sheree Zampino.

Despite all the gossip surrounding her marriage, Jada says she doesn't let the rumors bother her and remains grateful for what she has. "I’m thankful for the Hollywood scrutiny, that that’s my problem. In fact, the rumors and all are nothing compared to what other parents and families face daily," she said.
"There are mothers out there losing their sons, their husbands, their daughters. I’m blessed. So scrutinize me. I’ll take that any day over what the majority of my people are dealing with on a daily basis. I dare not complain. Hollywood scrutiny has nothing on what I’ve survived just to be here," she added.
