The men of Grey’s Anatomy left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to instead hang out on a luxury yacht that Jackson Avery (aka Jesse Williams) bought with his inheritance on the Thursday, Nov. 2 episode — and, honestly, we were totally jealous of the posh scene! The word “inheritance” doesn’t quite seem to do justice to Jackson's recent windfall, though. When his grandfather died earlier in Season 14, Jackson inherited a cool $250 million. Yes, seriously!
During the Grey's episode "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?", Jackson candidly discussed his wealth during a family dinner with his mom, Catherine Avery (Debbie Allen), stepfather, Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), and Richard's daughter, Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary). “It wasn’t a gift, mom. It was an economy," he complained to Catherine to which she replied, “You think having a lot of money is tough? Try not having it sometime!”

Maggie, Jackson’s potential love interest, then summed up his predicament in her trademark rambling style. “I went to college on a full ride when I was 15, which sounds awesome, but I had no friends and I cried all the time and it was awful,” she said. “I mean, I don’t know what it’s like to have Beyoncé money, but I do know that research shows that having too many choices is the leading cause of stress and now Jackson could literally choose to do anything for the rest of your life.”
“You could buy a vineyard and never work again,” Maggie suggested, turning to Jackson. “Or you could buy a hospital and work until the day you die. Even if you give it away, you have to decide who gets it and who doesn’t. You could buy an island. Or you could buy two islands and make them fight each other. I mean, I get that you’re not complaining but it is a problem. It is stressful.” Watch the scene below!
Talk about first world problems, right? We knew the Grey's doctors made bank — especially the ones on the receiving end of that plane crash settlement! — but Jackson now represents the one percent in the hospital! After buying a yacht, can't wait to see what Jackson does with his newfound fortune next!
