It’s been more than 62 years since the hit sitcom “I Love Lucy” debuted on television, but you’re about to experience Lucy and the gang in a whole new way!
CBS will feature two newly colorized episodes of the show as part of the “I Love Lucy Christmas Special” airing on Dec. 20.
The two episodes being gifted the special treatment? The long-lost “Christmas Episode” and the famous grape-stomping episode titled “Lucy’s Italian Movie.”
“The Christmas Episode,” which originally aired in 1956, was thought to be lost for many years and wasn’t aired as a rerun until it was rediscovered in 1989. The episode features Lucy and Ricky (Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz) and neighbors Ethel and Fred Mertz (Vivian Vance & William Frawley) decorating the Ricardos’ Christmas tree as they reminisce about the arrival of Little Ricky.
In “Lucy’s Italian Movie,” the Ricardos and Mertzes visit Rome where Lucy is asked to appear in an Italian movie called “Bitter Grapes.” Believing that the film centers on the wine industry, Lucy visits a vineyard with Ethel to do some research, which leads to the iconic grape-stomping scene.
