It seems Gwyneth Paltrow is happy she split from her ex-husband, Chris Martin after all.
In a new interview with 'Marie Claire' magazine, the 42-year-old actress revealed she and the Coldplay musician were "meant to have" a lasting friendship instead of a successful marriage.
"We've worked really f**king hard to get to [this] point. I feel like it's, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have," she told the publication.

When asked to share why she and Chris ultimately decided to "consciously uncouple," the mom-of-two assured the cause of their split was "nothing dramatic."

"I had built my life on trying to be all things to all people, and I just couldn't do it anymore, and I really had the sense that I wasn't allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else, and I just sort of hit a wall," she said.

Earlier this week, the Oscar-winning actress told 'Harper's Bazaar' she sometimes regrets splitting from her husband of 10 years.
"Of course, there are times when I think it would have been better if we had stayed married, which is always what your children want. But we have been able to solidify this friendship, so that we're really close," she told the publication.
Gwyneth and Chris wed in December 2003 and have two kids together, Apple, 9, and Moses, 7. They announced their amicable separation in March 2014.
